Ekaterina Neouimina

Ekaterina (Katia) Neouimina earned a BA in Political Science from the American University in
Cairo, a Masters of Arts in Public Administration from Carleton University, and a Juris Doctor
degree, specializing in international law, from the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2012.

She advises corporations, relocation companies, and individuals in the areas of corporate
immigration law. She specializes in providing assistance with obtaining Canadian work permits under all categories, including intra-company transferees, NAFTA professionals, significant
benefit to Canada, reciprocity, favourable LMIAs, business visitors, spousal work permits, study permits, visitor visas, applications for Canadian permanent residence, and Canadian citizenship applications. She can also assist with overcoming inadmissibility, representation in appeals, refugee applications, and judicial reviews.

In addition to her legal work, Katia has been teaching immigration law for the University of
British Columbia’s Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies and Procedures program since
2015 via online courses. She has also appeared as an immigration expert on OMNI TV.

Prior to joining Yallen Associates, Katia worked as a Canadian corporate immigration lawyer in a global immigration law firm. She is fluent in Russian, conversant in French, and has
knowledge of Arabic.

In her spare time, Katia spends time with family, travels and enjoys dancing and attending Opera
performances.

James Lawson

Lawyer

James Lawson graduated from Dalhousie Law School in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he received two academic awards.  James was called to the Ontario bar in 2008 after completing his articles at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto.  James has represented clients at the Ontario Superior Court, Federal Court, Small Claims Court and the Immigration and Refugee Board.  When not in the office James can usually be found with a good book, at the theater or playing boardgames.
